They say that nothing worth doing is easy. This is why when I first took the job as a Sales Rep for a Local Roofing Company about 7 years ago, I told the owner that I wanted to truly know what I was talking about, when it came to the roofing process, as well as what materials were used & how each one was installed, so I asked to start off working in repairs for a month or so. Due to our area getting hit with a huge storm, I ended up spending almost 3 months doing repairs, which I hated, yet I wouldn't change it for the world. I truly believe much of my success in sales, especially in my first year came from the fact that I learned from the ground up, which made me appreciate Sales that much more. The first month of Sales I sold 26 roofs, while earning over $100,000 my first year of Sales & within three years I had worked my way up to becoming the Operations Manager. I am not saying it's been all sunshine and rainbows, but what I am saying is that every step I have taken along the way has equipped me with the knowledge, the skills & the ability to Motivate, Educate, Inspire & Equip others in our industry, while helping them not to make the same mistakes I did. It's only when we give back that we truly receive the blessings!
